MARKING BRAND HISTORY
Give form to a milestone. Acknowledging history through design gives a brand solidity. A view of your brand through the eyes of history motivates employees for the future and brings life to your brand promise. Whether it is printed, interactive, or an environmental display, documenting and sharing history reinforces the core values of your brand.
Tilka Design recently designed an elegant centennial retrospective book for architecture and engineering firm Ellerbe Becket. We invite you to experience the book below and read about our partnership with Ellerbe Becket on this project.
PURPOSE, PLACE & IDENTITY: 100 YEARS OF ELLERBE BECKET
We were honored to be chosen by Ellerbe Becket to create a book to commemorate their 100-year milestone. Purpose, Place & Identity: 100 Years of Ellerbe Becket, is a compact, 5.75"x7.25", 328 page hardcover book. The fit-in-the-palm-of-your-hand volume compiles an impressive range of work through stunning photography and rarely seen architects' drawings. The spirit and history of this global firm comes alive through a detailed history and comprehensive essays written by employees and clients, and architecture and engineering experts and critics.
"Tilka Design was a perfect fit for creating the book. Right from the start, we both envisioned the book as an entire composition—content and visual decisions were never considered separately." —Mic Johnson, AIA, Design Principal at Ellerbe Becket
Ellerbe Becket, a firm whose roots began in Saint Paul in 1909 with founder Franklin Ellerbe, acquired Los Angeles firm Welton Becket and Associates in 1988, and over a century has achieved an immense portfolio of iconic buildings including: original Mayo Clinic campus buildings, Target Plaza and Nicollet Mall Redevelopment in Minneapolis, Saint Paul City Hall, the Capitol Records Building in Los Angeles and Kingdom Centre in Saudi Arabia.
"The book was a dream project for Tilka Design to work with a like-minded client," says Jane. "Working with Ellerbe Becket's design and marketing leadership formed an ideal synergy that sparked creative exchanges and new insights." We also worked closely with printer Bolger and book binder Midwest Editions to direct the high quality craftsmanship of the book.
The book was given to guests at Ellerbe Becket's anniversary party in Minneapolis this past May. Purpose, Place & Identity will continue to be a part of the firm's celebrations across the globe.
New history: Ellerbe Becket, became AECOM Ellerbe Becket in the fall of 2009.
